The International Center of Expertise in Montréal for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence has launched under the newly formed Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence
The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI), an organization consisting of multiple states dedicated to discussing the ethical development of artificial intelligence (AI), has officially launched the International Center of Expertise in Montréal for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (ICEMAI). The organization has been established with Jacques Rajotte as its Interim Executive Director.
The GPAI was established to address four themes – the responsible use of AI, data governance, the future of work, and innovation and commercialization of AI. The ICEMAI will handle responsible use of AI and data governance. Although, the GPAI has only begun its operation, it stated goal is to improve national capacity to utilize AI technology and apply it for public good. The ICEMAI will organize its first meeting in December 2020.
The second center of the GPAI will be established in Paris. Both centers will collaborate with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
